Cataracts are a common eye disease among the elderly, it is affecting vision and hindering daily life and work. Moreover, since not every elderly person has a dedicated caregiver, a single moment of carelessness can lead to irreversible accidents. Although taking surgery is the unique cure solution for cataracts, patients have to wait for approximately 1.5 years for cataract surgery under the current public hospital system. Moreover, the surgery fees offered by the private market vary from HKD 20,000 to HKD 60,000 per single eye, which is quite unaffordable for the general public.
Human Health Group is going to launch the 'Eye Caring for the Elderly’ Campaign this year, donating cataract surgery quotas valued at over HKD 2,000,000 to the Lok Sin Tong Benevolent Society, Kowloon. With the support from Lok Sin Tong Benevolent Society, Kowloon, Human Health Group could get connected with 100 people affected by cataracts and arrange free surgery for them, so that to restore their vision and enable them to regain a normal life. With this charity initiative, the Human Health group is expecting to deliver the message of caring to the underprivileged people.
