Starting from 9th May 2024, the Labour Department has expanded the industry coverage of the “Pilot Rehabilitation Programme for Employees Injured at Work” (the “Pilot Programme”) from the “construction industry” to include the “catering and hotel industry” and the “transportation and logistics industry”. The work injuries of employees of these two newly added industries must be happened on or after 1st April 2024. Human Health fully supports and delights for the expansion of industry coverage of the Pilot Programme as it will benefit more employees who have suffered work-related injuries and bring about social benefit.
The three-year Pilot Programme was rolled out in September 2022. Actmax Limited, the indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Human Health Holdings Limited, was engaged by the government to provide rehabilitation treatment, case management and return-to-work facilitation services under the Pilot Programme, and implement the Pilot Programme in collaboration with its strategic partner, CUHK Medical Centre under the supervision of the Labour Department. The Work Injury Rehabilitation Office was established under the Pilot Programme and the Group is responsible for its daily operations and management. There are over 70 rehabilitation treatment service locations throughout Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, providing greater convenience for participants to seek treatment.
The Pilot Programme aims to provide timely and well-coordinated private out-patient rehabilitation treatment services and case management services to employees who were engaged in the industries covered by the Pilot Programme at the time of the work injury, have sustained a musculoskeletal injury as a result of the work injury or contracted a musculoskeletal occupational disease prescribed under the Employees’ Compensation Ordinance; and have been, or are expected to be, absent from work for six weeks or more because of the work injury, with a view to preventing work-related injuries from developing into chronic illness and facilitating their early recovery and return to work.. Most of the recovered employees under the Pilot Programme believe that the rehabilitation treatment services provided under the Pilot Programme facilitate their early recovery and return to work.
Human Health has committed for diversification and overall development of medical services. The Pilot Programme not only helps strengthen our Company's healthcare service blueprint but also assists in the early recovery and return to work of more injured employees in related industries. In addition, it helps reducing work-injury payouts of employers arising from delayed treatment of their employees and maintaining enterprises’ productivity, thereby bringing benefits to injured employees, employers and the community as a whole. Furthermore, Human Health will continue to fulfill corporate social responsibility by fully cooperating with the Hong Kong Government, engage actively in various Public-Private Partnership Programme and facilitate the sustainability for healthcare system and continuously provide the reliable medical services to the public.
