Regarding a confirmed case of coronavirus (COVID-19) infection had visited Human Health Medical Centre under the Group (Kwun Tong Hiu Lai Court)

Human Health (the “Group”) learnt from the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health that there was a confirmed case (No. 67) of coronavirus (COVID-19) infection, and the patient who turned out to be diagnosed with coronavirus had a doctor consultation at the Group’s medical centre in Kwun Tong Hiu Lai Court before the case was confirmed.

 

The Group has always values the health and safety of our patients and staff. Regarding the case, we have continued to keep close contact and communication with the Centre for Health Protection, and will assist them to conduct a contact tracing exercise.

 

The followings are the latest updates of the case:

 

 

(I) Time that the confirmed case (No. 67) of the patient infected with the coronavirus visited the medical centre and follow-up

According to our records, the confirmed case visited the clinic and was present:

10th Feb, 2020 (Mon)

Registration: 3:35pm
Present at Centre:5:15pm – 6:00pm

14th Feb, 2020 (Fri)

Registration: 4:15pm

Present at Centre: 5:45pm – 6:45pm

 

The information above has been submitted to professionals of the Centre for Health Protection for follow-up.

 

For effective prevention, Human Health strictly implements corresponding infection control measures, including temperature check and health screening for all visitors who visit the Group’s medical centres, and must first remind them to use alcohol sanitiser to disinfect and must wear surgical masks. According to the guidelines and the infection control issued by the Centre for Health Protection, persons who have the chance to be in touch with the confirmed case at the medical centre are not defined as close contacts. In addition, the related medical centre has again been thoroughly disinfected.

 

 (2) Medical staff of the related medical centre

Members of our medical teams are required to complete health declaration forms and checks, including undergoing daily temperature monitoring, face and eye masks wearing and also other related protective equipment based on medical needs will be used. Apart from these, washing hands frequently and maintain good personal hygiene are also indispensable. As for the above confirmed novel coronavirus case, related medical staff of Human Health have not been classified as close contacts and therefore have no need to be quarantined according to the guidelines issued by the Centre for Health Protection.

 

(3) Infection control measures of Human Health Medical Centre

The Group has been following the guidelines relating to the Emergency Response Level issued by the Centre for Health Protection and have initiated an infection control, monitoring and report system. In response to the HKSAR Government’s escalation of the coronavirus epidemic to the Emergency Response Level, Human Health has further strengthened its infection control-related measures accordingly, including cleaning all clinics with diluted bleach regularly and thoroughly every day to strictly maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the clinic.

 

If any patient is found to meet the reporting criteria of Severe Respiratory Disease associated with a Novel Infectious Agent, set by The Centre for Health Protection, they will be requested to be quarantined with immediate effect in order to avoid close contact with other people. We will subsequently report the cases to The Centre for Health Protection, follow its prescribed procedures, and thoroughly disinfect the clinic after the departure of the suspected patient.

 

Human Health wishes to take this opportunity to remind all that, during the severe epidemic period, everyone should wear a face mask, frequently wash hands to maintain good personal hygiene and try to avoid going to crowded areas. Strengthens Infection Control Measures Against Novel Coronavirus

In response to the HKSAR Government activation of emergency response level of the novel coronavirus infection, Human Health will further enhance relevant infection control measures based on the latest situation.

 

In order to ensure the health and safety of the patients and employees, we have formulated and implemented further infection control measures. Our medical staff and administrative team adopted health declaration and inspection; medical centres staff take daily temperature screening and wear surgical masks and goggles, as well as relevant protective equipment, perform frequent hand washing and maintain good personal hygiene as required by medical procedures. In addition, we will continue to disinfect the medical center on a regular basis in accordance with internal guidelines.

 

For all patients who arrive at the medical centre, we will perform temperature check and remind them to wear surgical masks and hand disinfection. Assistance will be provided to those when need. When an individual is found fulfilling the reporting criteria of "Severe Respiratory Disease associated with a Novel Infectious Agent", we will isolate the suspected case, report to Centre for Health Protection and carry out thorough disinfection of clinic afterwards.

 

We will continue to monitor the situation and liaise with the Centre for Health Protection to make appropriate arrangements.

Marathon are gaining popularity in recent years. As running a marathon demands extreme endurance, it could put your body and heart under strain and therefore it is not for everyone.

Runners have to be well-prepared by understanding the body condition, and knowing how to prevent common running injuries.

Human Health held a seminar, "Marathon Preparation – How Running Affects your Body and Heart", on November 4, 2019 at the Hong Kong Culture Centre. The speaker, cardiologist Dr. Li Cho Shan, Hong Kong Registered Physiotherapists Mr. Chiu Cheuk Pong, Bond and Mr. Poon Tsz Hin, shared the cardiac risks associated with marathon running, and pre- and post-race strategies.

Sleep apnea is one of the common diseases nowadays in Hong Kong. It affects both genders, but it is predominantly associated with males. Only a few sufferers, however, realize they are affected.

 

Human Health held a seminar, “The Health Implications of Snoring & Bad Sleep”, on August 8, 2019 at the Hong Kong Science Park. The speaker, family physician Dr. Kwong Kin Hung, introduced sleep apnea by explaining the causes, different types of diagnosis and treatment options, to help the staff of the Park having more fundamental understanding on sleep apnea.
